Royal Ascot Day 3

2.30 Elite Status comes into this a short priced favourite & while the 2 wins have been easy enough the form has no substance to it and that is enough of a question mark at the price. American Rascal comes into this off the back of a double digit win on debut after showing a great turn of foot , it’s surprising however that Frankie chose the other American horse No Nay Mets. The Italian has a decent record when riding for Ward , so perhaps it’s a tip in itself that he is on the rival. His Majesty only just missed out in Group 3 company last time out and that looks the most solid form

3.05 The Joseph Patrick O’Brien yard seem to have come mob handed to this years event , but they have not cut much ice so far & their represented by Valiant King who got the job done in style last time out in a maiden , I did think he might be interesting but the form of the yard puts me off. The same can be said for the Godolphin runners who have been way below par so far , their runner Tagabawa comes into this with decent all weather form and a smart pedigree , but there a little positives to take from the form of owners runners so far. I thought at prices both Cloudbreaker & Struth could be of some interest given their progressive profiles. Burglar has the pedigree to be much better than he has shown so far & Frankie doing 8.11 catches the eye

3.40 Al Asifah looks the class act of the day and could be a bit special , she is odds on & rightly so. Of The rest not much takes my eye so hopefully the filly can show what she is made of and put up a good performance

4.20 I can’t be having Coltrane as a Group 1 performer having only just got the on the wrong side of the gallant but far from top class Trueshan in October , yes he won with something to spare last time out , but that was a Group 3 and this is far deeper. Eldar Eldarov is the proven Group 1 performer but he was very disappointing back in October and has questions at this trip for me. There are plenty that we know plenty about , the one unexposed type is Courage Mon Ami who has yet to come out of second gear in three runs ad three wins so far. He looks to have abundant potential for this distance and looks a solid proposition

5.00 Quantum Impact comes from a yard that had the one – two is yesterdays big handicap and with Frankie on board is sure to popular. There are any number in with a chance in truth , so at price I thought the French raider Bless might make some impact from a decent looking mark

5.35 The two George Strawbridge owned colts Torito & Epictetus had this mark as I write & I would be more in favour of the latter given the strong form he has in Group races. Drumroll is another with winning group class form and is out of the very high class mare Maybe who has also produced the classic winner Saxon Warrior. Waipiro tackled the Derby last time out and this is much calmer waters

6.10 The most difficult race to solve on day 3. Unforgotten has had very little racing and might still have more to offer. Montassib at least comes in to this with winning form and ran well enough in 5th in this race last year
