Epsom 2.00 Running Lion probably brings the best form into this race , but the yards runners have been in and out form wise & I am not sure I would be rushing in with this one at around 2’1 . Chic Columbine ran ok in a Group 1 contest in France last time out , beaten under 6l . She is 3-3 under William Buick; in receipt of 12lb age allowance back down in class she looks a fair ew bet to me. Chic Columbine 1/2 pt ew @ 15’2
Epsom 2.35 Plenty of these have form over Dubai and other foreign countries , so it’s a bit tricky to put the dots together. But I think Sean may be a little over priced given he has some rock solid form on turf in Dubai ( did not handle the dirt on last run ) and is up there on ratings with plenty in front of him in the current markets. Sean 1/2 pt ew @ 11’1
Epsom 3.10 High numbers are tend to be hugely favoured at the sprint distances at this track and one that has the plum draw in 20 is Blue Storm. He kicked off with a fair effort at Chester ( got hampered 1f out ) but still managed to finish with effect , should get a good tow with the likes of speed merchants Mart & Sturlasson drawn very near by. Blue Storm 1/2 pt ew @ 12’1 / 11’1 firms offering 6 places
Epsom 3.45 Again high numbers look the place to be & another with that plum draw is Silky Wilkie . Desperately unlucky in this race 12 months ago when some scrimmaging 1f out halted his momentum at a crucial stage, eventually flying home and missing out by a short head he can make it count this time. Silky Wilkie 1pt ew @ 4’1 firms offering 4 places
Epsom 4.30 How anyone can be interested in betting City Of Troy at such a short price ( currently 3’1 ) after the 2000 Guineas flop is beyond me , I suspect its a bookies ploy of shortening without taking much money to draw the punter in thinking it was a run too bad to be true. It probably was and the stable does have previous re-incarnating one with last years winner , but I am far from convinced about this one. The stable mate Los Angeles seemed to make hard work of it last time out and he strokes me was more of a St Ledger type down the road. Of the rest I think Ancient Wisdom has a very solid profile and looks sure to stay and I think Bellum Justum of the bigger priced ones can improve for this greater stamina test ( 4 of the yard’s last 6 Derby runners have finished in the frame, three at 50-1 or bigger ) Bellum Justum 1/2 pt ew @ 25’1 / 22’1 firms offering 4 places & Ancient Wisdom 3/4 pt ew @ 13’2 / 6’1 firms offering 4 places
