Saturday 11th February

The double included now…

Warwick 1.30 Stolen Silver 1pt win @ 5’6 – Goes particularly well at Cheltenham where he ran a sterling race in defeat in a strong 2m4f handicap on New Year’s Day; 4lb rise sees him on a career-high mark but there’s a suspicion that he might yet have even more to offer and he still holds an entry in next week’s Grade 1 at Ascot; has form on sharp tracks and he’s hard to knock

Newbury 1.50 Annual Invictus 1/2 pt ew @ 15’2 / 7’1 – Down the weights when winning at Cheltenham in November and ran at least as well when third there off this 4lb higher mark in December, both from the front over 3m on good; needs to bounce back from a poor show at Wincanton on Boxing Day, when he was prominent early but did not lead ; that said you would hope connections let him get on with things this time around

Warwick 2.05 Molly Ollys Wishes 1/2 pt ew @ 10’1 – There’s a question mark regarding the forecast good ground and also her current form, although 3m on soft ground the last twice has stretched her; won this in 2021 and has landed three Grade 2/Listed prizes since, the latest last October; could go well now back down in trip

Newbury 2.25 Sam Brown 1/2 pt ew @ 12’1 / 11’1 – Best form on genuinely good ground ( should get that here ) & was better than ever in 2022, winning 3m1f handicap at Aintree in the spring and not beaten far when third to Bravemansgame in the Charlie Hall at Wetherby in the autumn

Warwick 2.40 Haddex Des Obeaux 1pt win @ 9’2 – Has built upon the promise of his first two chases to make all in 2m handicaps the last twice, most recently over C&D by a wide margin; he’s very promising & the short priced favourite Jonbon has questions to answer on this quick ground

Newbury 3.00 Elixir De Nutz 1/2 pt ew @ 9’1 – Took well to first-time cheekpieces in Class 2 handicap at Wincanton last month, making all for an easy win; seems to have a harder task in this field but may have more to offer in the retained headgear; Grade 1 winner over hurdles in his younger days

Newbury 3.35 Teddy Blue 3/4 pt ew @ 16’1 firms offering 6 places (NAP) – Creditable third in the Gerry Feilden over C&D in November, then took advantage of a good opportunity in Lingfield maiden last week; 5lb penalty is offset by Caoilin Quinn’s useful claim; not fully exposed and his trainer has won this race three times; Supreme entry; looks the type to benefit from this big field decent pace scenario

ITV Double 1pt ew Teddy Blue ( firms offering 6 places ) & Annual Invictus
