Newbury 1.40 There is an interesting field of handicappers for this opening race. Chief among them is Jet Powered who flopped big style on the last start a year ago after looking something very good on debut for the yard. There was obviously some excuse given the time off , but I am still of the opinion he could be a graded horse for this season. Uncle Burt has more experience and is getting bit of weight , but a tumble last time out always put’s me off a little as I think they always remember them. Irish Hill hold no secrets & the other unexposed one is North Lodge who has had a long time off the track after competing well in graded races and if support came pre race would be of interest. I do think Jet Powered could be something better then these long term but I am just going to watch for the future

Fairyhouse 2.00 A race added to the ITV card because of Newcastle being off and it’s a wide open contest too. Whiskeywealth currently heads the betting , but he has been well beaten in similar grades of late and it would be surprising if there was not something better to beat that one. The Folkes Tiara has all the hall marks of an interesting on now going chasing ( chase form very good ) once again after a summer campaign over hurdles & is off bottom weight this time , plenty to like for me. The Big Chop jumps pretty well but two straight wins see’s him high enough in the weights. Advised Bet The Folkes Taira 1pt ew @ 6’1 firms offering 4 places

Newbury 2.15 Under Control head the betting and it is easy to see why , given the record the trainer has in this race and the potential she brings to the table , a wind op is something I don’t like and she has drifted in the markets this morning ; so maybe today is not the day ? . Of The rest Hansard looks the chief threat and a run last month will certainly bring him into this in good form. A tricky race to read Under Control should be tough to beat but I have my reservations. A no bet race

Newbury 2.50 Monbeg Genius can be forgiven a pulled up last time out ( I didn’t really take much from his last run at Ascot when he was nearly brought down before he was pulled up ) The form previously looks rock solid from Cheltenham and has a rock solid chance in my view. Complete Unknown currently heads the betting and does bring potential , but a potter around in a 3 runner race at odds on is hardly in the same form bracket as Monbeg Genius. The two Irish runners Stumptown & Mahler Mission both have a chance given their form but both are prone to a bad error or two on the way around. Advised Bet Monbeg Genius 3/4 pt ew @ 13’2 / 6’1 firms offering 6 places

Newbury 3.25 A race that revolves around Master Chewy who has age and time on his side since taking to chasing and could be a tough one to beat , although Elixir De Nutz bounced back to form last time out and has some strong form lines compared to plenty of these. A no bet race

Fairyhouse 3.40 The usual selection of Mullins & Elliot runners in these types of races over in Ireland with the betting the likely key factor and it’s not a game I want to play at with my hard earned !
