Newmarket 1.50 Capulet looks to hold strong claims to me form wise. The one that beat him last time out is a short price for the Doncaster Futurity Trophy Stakes & the 4th that day has since gone on to win the Alan Smurfit Memorial Beresford Stakes ( Group 2 ) in taking style. Aablan & Ghostwriter are unbeaten in 2 runs each , but the Godolphin 2 year olds are a bit hit and miss lately and Ghostwriter has to step up on form. Advised Bet Capulet 2pt win @ 2’1
Chester 2.05 A very tricky staying race to solve and despite taking a while trying to find some way into the contest I am struggling somewhat , so I will just pass it over and move on
Newmarket 2.25 Jasna’s Secret is the current short priced favourite for this Group 2 & while she has undoubted potential I am a bit shocked she is so short given her winning form in France is pretty weak. I can’t split the majority of the opposition , but it would not surprise me if Jasna’s Secret was turned over
Haydock 2.40 Manila Scouse Wasn’t winning out of turn when easily landing a C&D handicap last month; followed up off the same mark at Chepstow four days later; back on the up when third of 19 in a warm York sprint last week; 2lb higher but looks booked for another big run. Proverb will like the ground and I could see that one going well too. Silkie Wilkie would be appealing on fast ground , but it is not going to be that. a decent race but not one I am interested in backing in
Newmarket 3.00 Vandeek & River Tiber renew rivalry from their clash last time out in France , but top of the ground would be a question mark for both of them. Task Force won a Listed grade at Ripon where a solid yardstick was two places behind him and helps to give the form a strong look; has Group 1 potential judged on pedigree. Just a race to watch for me
Newmarket 3.40 The big race of the day and all eyes look to be on Greek Order given I think we can take it he is the proverbial Group horse in a handicap, he has been blessed with a great draw too ; if he hacked up it would be no surprise but at 7’2 in such a race it looks like the bookies are taking no chances. Of the rest Crack Shot is another with a very good draw and the same comment applies to last years winner Majestic who is only 3lb higher and does seem suited to these big field scenarios , the ground will be ideal too.
