No luck with the two selections from day 1 with Korker blowing any chance at the start with a cigar moment in the stalls & Hot Fuss , who was very well backed finishing as all good each way bets do in 4th , rallying towards the finish having been headed. On a plus not my analysis of the Voltigeur proving spot one with a closely matched finish with the 3 principles & if you had permed the 3 in a trifecta a return of over £40 would be the reward. In the International that followed my statement that however would lead would win proved spot on with Mostahdaf making all for a comfortable win
.50 I don’t really get involved that much with 2 year old contests but occasionally I do & today looks one of those days with Relief Rally standing head and shoulders above the rest of this field. I fully expected her to be near enough odds on , so a price of 85/40 looks outstanding value. She should be unbeaten in her 4 runs ( looked very unlucky not to win at Royal Ascot ) & she blitzed a big field in the Super Sprint last time out. Of the rest Cherry Blossom accounted for a big field of mainly trees at odds on last time out and the Haggas stable have a line on her through Indispensable who fished one place ahead of the O’Brien filly on her debut. Advised Bet Relief Rally 2pt win @ 85’40
.25 This Premier Yearling Stakes looks an impossible task to solve with a lot of the runners having comparable form. The Hannon yard like to target these types of race & fire 4 arrows at it. I did think Ziggy’s Condor was impressive enough on his one run , but this is a big ask on just the 2nd start. No bet advised
.00 A very deep looking handicap , Akhu Najla heads the market with Northern Express . The former is a little light on experience for a contest of this nature & while the Ascot run last time out would have caught the eye of many I am not sure he is one to be with. The latter is a lot more experienced & has a solid enough chance. The one I am going to be with is last years winner Blue For You. He does need the gaps to open with his run style , but he loves this track & warmed up for this race with a win here the time before last. He should get a good pace to sit off and rates a fair bet ew in my view. Advised Bet Blue For You 3/4 pt ew @ 11’1/10’1 firms offering 6 places
.35 The feature race on Day 2 looks a cracker with plenty of strength in depth for a change in a Group 1 . Blue Stocking & Savethelastdance are very closely matched on their one / two at the Curragh last time out the the latter just getting the better of the argument that day. Both are tough fillies & it will be close between them once again. Free Wind can be forgiven a poor run in swamp like conditions at Goodwood but I am just not that sure she is up to Group 1 standards. Al Husn looks a bit forgotten in the market & I expected her to be nearer the front of the market. There was plenty to like about the way she picked up when asked a couple of furlongs out at Goodwood and she looks still to be improving. Advised Bet Al Husn 3/4 pt ew @ 13’2
.10 Yet another open looking contest on Day 2 & it’s nice to see with another good betting opportunity. Sea Theme is the current favourite and plenty will have been impressed with the victory last time out , but she was beating one that had been turned over at heavy odds on the time before & is now a 3 race maiden , so I am not sure of the merits or class of that win entitles her to be so short. Modaara looked ill at ease on fast ground last time out and is another shorter in the market than she should be on a form basis. Makinmedoit has some excellent all weather form and finished with some purpose at this track last September , she looks sure to be suited to this distance & 12’1 is just far too bigger price to ignore. Advised Bet Makinmedoit 1/2 pt ew @ 12’1
