1.50 The ground on Day 1 looked hard going and I suspect there might be some rain on the way for the track on Day 2. Lots of unexposed 3 year olds in this opening contest & the shortlist is a very long one ! . Struth won’t mind soft ground & it will suit the likely favourite Amleto ( who is well bred type ) Westerton has a bit of a question mark over this trip & Fox Journey looks the most exposed of the runners. Not a race I want to get involved with
2.25 I did have Jumbly on my mind for this but I am not sure he will be suited to soft ground , so I am passing her over. Fast Response won’t mind any rain at all. Breege does not look that well handicapped & is another I can pass over. The other Irish raider I thing is of interest is Matilda Picotte who led them all a merry dance before fining the ground too lively in the Sandy Lane at Haydock , back on soft ground this time I feel she has more to offer. Advised Bet Matilda Picotte 1/2 pt ew @ 10’1 firms offering 4 places
3.00 Big Evs improved no end to last a the Windsor Castle listed race at Royal Ascot , that was on fast ground & I doubt it will be anywhere near that this time, but he does have leading form claims. Baheer also came good at the second time of asking and he did that in good style. Kylian put them to the sword at Sandown in impressive fashion. A tough race to sort out and not one I am interested in betting in
3.35 The highlight of Day 2 and it’s a pretty thin and disappointing turn out for the grade and money. Paddington is unbeaten so far this term and is likely to stay that way. Inspiral who looks the only danger has to give the colt weight and that will not be an easy task
