Saturday 4th November

Wetherby 1.15 A very wide open contest for the start of the ITV racing , I can give a whole host of chances , the main ones to Ladronne ( who goes well here , The Edgar Wallace who returns on a good mark & Thor De Cerisy who likes the ground , but has not looked a natural over fences . Not a race I could bet in though

Ascot 1.30 I thought Twin Jets might be interesting for this new season , but the re-appearance run at Chepstow was shocking & I would want to see a better performance before getting involved with a bet in future. Are U Wise To That does come into this in form , but this is a stronger test than the race & deep ground is an unknown , so at such a shortish price is not for me. Passing Well finished last season below par , but had looked like a progressive type before and could make into a decent chaser. Lots is with a chance and its a race to watch for me for some pointers for later in the season

Wetherby 1.50 The top three in the betting Luccia , Kateira & You Wear It Well look the one to concentrate on and all have the up sides and down sides , so another race just to watch

Ascot 2.05 Saint Segal is another I have got on my list as one to follow this season , I am not sure he is going to be suited by deep ground and a wind op sounds the warning bells first time up , so one I am going to put on the back burner for the time being until some runs have been witnessed. First Flow goes well here and this sort of test could be right up his street ( has fbest orm over further ) . Boothill & Red Rookie have both faced rises in the weights from last season. Yet another tough race to call & I have no strong opinion

Wetherby 2.25 Old stagers Thyme Hill & Dashel Drasher head the markets with no secrets and will no doubt run their races , of the rest Botox Has likes the ground and runs well fresh so looks the main challenger. Not a race I am interested in betting in however

Wetherby 3.00 A very small but select field and the highlight of the days racing grade wise . There is nothing worth discussing about this race that we don’t already know about the runners & I dare say it will be a prep for most of them so we can move on

Ascot 3.15 Altobelli looks the class angle having been highly tried at Aintree , he had been untroubled to win three Mickey Mouse races prior so is somewhat of an unknown going into handicaps. Our Champ was ultra impressive last weekend , but this is a different test on much deeper ground and I would be against this one. Rare Middleton is one I have on my radar for this season , but a wind op and first time up on deep ground is not my idea of a bet. Bad is probably better than show so far & Teddy Blue should be a player but is prone to the odd bad blunder. I was tempted by a bet on Rare Middleton but a wind op puts puts me off

Wetherby 3.30 The most tricky race on the card and deep ground looks to have made this impossible to solve , so best to move on

Ascot 3.45 A decent handicap with some fair performers in. Beauport is the current favourite which I find puzzling as I am far from convinced 3m on deep ground is what he wants. Yeah Man has been popular in the betting and this Irish runner and it is obvious to see why given the unexposed profile for a shrew outfit & I think we can assume connections are confident he is well in. Two For Gold is sure to suited to this type of test and runs this track very well , so has plenty of positives in my book. Advised Bet Yeah Man 1/2 pt ew @ 7’1 / 6’1 firms offering 4 places & Two For Gold 1/2 pt ew @ 11’1 firms offering 4 places
