Thursday 20th April

Cheltenham 1.30 Grivetana 1/2 pt ew @ 9’1 / 17’2 firms offering 5 places – Ran well a few times a Newbury at the start of the campaign & then seemed to go backwards there after , but that seemed to coincide with the ground softening and back on decent spring ground could be well handicapped now

Newmarket 1.50 Once More For Luck 1/2 pt ew @ 25’1 firms offering 5 places – Sprang a huge surprise when scoring at odd of 125’1 on second start last season. There seemed no fluke about that thereafter and he was very highly tried at the back end of the season. Drops back into handicaps with a fair share of weight , but still holds a Group 2 entry at York next month which indicates connections feel he is better than a handicapper long term

2.25 Syllabus 1/2 pt ew @ 7’1 – No form to go on whatsoever so it’s a bit of a guessing game. The selection is out of a mare that has produced 2 foals both winners over 1m plus , so its a fair indication that being from of a stallion of very good milers that this trip and a bit further is going to be ideal

Newmarket 3.00 Jumby 1/2 pt ew @ 12’1 – Hardly runs a bad race at this track ( 6 runs , 2 wins , 2 places ) & given the rest of the field bar the favourite ( odds on when writing this ) are much of a muchness , that course form could be a handy edge

Newmarket 3.35 Mostabshir 1.5 pt win @ 100’30 (NAP) Is from a family the Gosdens know very well and this colt made a striking impression on debut. Cruising through the race and then putting the race to bed in taking style. Is a short as 20’1 for the 2000 Guineas and I suspect he could be up to that class looking at that debut run and how he is bred for the job

ITV Double

Nothing really strikes me as worthwhile putting in a multiple today , its more of a value at the prices sort of day punting for me
