1.50 Balance Play looks to be progressing nicely , has been hit hard by the handicapper though & this could be a bridge too far. Wootton’Sun bids to give the former champ a goodbye winner & is another that has been very consistent , but again has gone up plenty in the weights. One I do like a lot is Intinso , who is very unexposed & I doubt a mark of 90 is anywhere near the ceiling of this ones ability. He has a good draw & ran a fine race last time out. 2.25 Most of the protagonists from the Goodwood Cup Stakes line up once again and Quickthorn bids to put them to the sword once again. I can’t work out the tactics that will be employed except for Quickthorn wanting an easy lead , that may get scuppered by River Of Stars who likes to front run too , but if the jockey’s allow Tom Marquand to steel another one they have no hope. 3.00 A cracking Group 2 for 2 year olds . Haatem brings the best form into the race having run solid races in Group 2’s the last three times. Johannes Brahms goes for a stable whose 2 year olds are hardly setting the world on fire at this meeting & I suspect there is something to beat this one too. Kylian has been racing at 5f , but gives the impression 6f will be ideal. King’s Gamble is supposedly well regarded . A tough race to call and one I will be sitting out from a betting point of view
York 3.35 Highfield Princess & Bradsell are very closely matched , the latter would be the one I would side with given how he won at Ascot & he demolished a decent field on debut at this track last year. Big Evs gets plenty of weight but this is a very tough ask for a 2 year old and has a lot to find on form for me. Most of the others having plenty to find on form and ratings. 4.10 Rowayeh has been put in a shortish priced favourite as I write & while I can see the potential the current price is something of a joke. Amanzoe was last seen in this very race last season , off the track since it’s got to be a guess how straight she will be , but she has high ability so the market would probably be the best guide. Sirona is one I am interested in having shown her best form for a while last time out & the booking of Ryan Moore something of an eye-catcher , she has come down in the weights and this step back up in trip will be ideal.
